Silicon Manganese

5/5

High Manganese Content 65-70%

Silicon Manganese (SiMn) is a crucial ferroalloy used extensively in steelmaking and casting industries. This alloy is composed of silicon (typically 10-20%) and manganese (65-70%), with trace amounts of carbon, sulfur, and phosphorus. SiMn is known for its dual role as both a deoxidizer and an alloying agent, significantly improving the mechanical properties of steel such as strength, toughness, and elasticity.

product information :

The reaction in the furnace reduces manganese and silicon oxides to their elemental forms, combining them with iron to form the alloy.

Grades and Specifications

The typical grades of SiMn are differentiated by their silicon and manganese content:

  • SiMn 60/14: 60% manganese and 14% silicon, commonly used in general steel production.
  • SiMn 65/17: A higher grade with 65% manganese and 17% silicon for specialized applications.
